Depending on the structure of the Office, the Assistant Field Officer is usually supervised by the Senior Field Coordinator, Field Officer, or Head of Sub-Office/Field Office. Other sections and units relevant to the country/regional program may provide indirect guidance (s).
The incumbent’s work will be guided by the UNHCR Manual, program and protection objectives, Operations Plans, and UN and UNHCR financial/budgetary rules and regulations. Normally, the incumbent has no direct supervisory responsibilities. S/he interacts on a daily basis with staff from the various field offices as well as the functional units at the Country/Regional Office. S/he also maintains close contact with a variety of local civilian and military authorities, as well as counterparts in NGOs and UN agencies, to discuss issues of mutual interest.

1- Evaluate the needs of people of concern in the AoR and develop project proposals in collaboration with district authorities and implementation partners.
2- Promote and monitor assistance project implementation.
3- Report on the rate of new arrivals on a regular basis and estimate the expected influx based on interviews with people of concern.
4- Assist with the reception, registration, and provision of assistance to UNHCR-concerned individuals in collaboration with implementing partners.
5 – Maintain a record of detention cases; register applicants for voluntary repatriation and family reunion.
6- Assist in the preparation of monthly sectoral reports and material for periodic project monitoring reports and year-end reports.
7- Make recommendations to the designated officer for protection interventions.
8- Negotiate with counterparts from local governments, partners, and affected populations.
9 – As needed, perform other related duties.
Education: Undergraduate Degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training.
Experience: 1 year relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or no experience with Graduate degree; or no experience with Doctorate degree.
