The World Food Programme (WFP) has an exciting job opportunity for a Project Coordinator (Fortification) to join their team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on a 2-year Limited Fixed Term contract.

As a Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating project activities, managing partnerships with stakeholders, and ensuring effective design and delivery of nutrition packages for beneficiaries. You will also guide and supervise project staff, contribute to the development of nutrition fortification projects, and support the identification of potential partners.

Project Coordinator at WFP Job 2023 Description


  1. Coordinate project operations throughout the project cycle.
  2. Oversee the technical/country office level BMGF collaboration.
  3.  Coordination of coalition-building activities for the project with the larger Large Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) community at the country office level, in support of efforts to deliver two comprehensive nutrition packages for the SFP and the PSNP.
  4. Coordinate coalition building with various stakeholders at the country office level in support of nutrition package distribution. Stakeholders will include national governments, United Nations agencies, other international organizations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  5.   Collaborate with Ethiopia Country Office staff to guarantee the successful design and delivery of two nutrition kits to SFP and PSNP5 recipients.
  6. Lead and manage project staff, serving as a resource and assisting them with more complicated analysis and enquiries.
  7. Assist to the development of nutrition fortification programs and activities, as well as strategies and processes, while ensuring alignment with broader nutrition policies and advice.
  8. Offer project assistance to fortification and defined nutrition activities, as well as CO objectives, while providing a coordinated approach with wider programming cooperation with appropriate units in accordance with WFP technical instructions and standards.
  9. Assist and advise Cooperating Partners (CPs) nutrition focal points, serving as a point of referral and providing technical assistance in more specific theme areas to ensure conformity with WFP, international, and national government policies and standards.
  10. Assist CPs in enhancing nutrition project monitoring/assessment/survey processes, ensuring that strict quality criteria are met.
  11. Contribute to the development of accurate and timely reporting on nutrition efforts, allowing for informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  12. Assist in the identification and engagement of suitable partners to enable a collaborative and holistic approach to nutrition.
  13. Ensure that best practices and information collecting in nutrition programs are documented.

Qualification & Experience:

Education: An advanced university degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Biotechnology, Economics, Agriculture, or a related field, or a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training. 

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive professional project management experience with public and/or private donors, including: 

  • Proven advocacy and coalition-building experience in the development and/or humanitarian sectors. 
  • Experience working with governments on nutrition policy development and/or program implementation (within food security or health). 
  • Working experience in both emergency and development settings.
