1. Wash Specialist

Wash Specialist responsibilities include:

  • Be the focal point at the assigned UNICEF Country office for UNICEF’s WASH /IPC response and preparedness plans for Ebola outbreak.
  • Familiarize her/himself with the current situation and context, including the extent of the current outbreak, including all SitReps and other relevant reports produced.
  • Attend and represent UNICEF at all relevant Ebola repose coordination meetings including internal UNICEF
  • Ebola task force/coordination meetings, UNICFE Emergency Management Team meetings, National or
  • District level Task Force, WASH sub-pillar, IPC sub-pillar, District Task Force and any other stakeholder/partner meetings as required
  • Prepare WASH/IPC supply plans in line the with UNICEF Ebola Response Plan, and in coordination with the relevant government departments at national and district level and other partners and relevant stakeholders to the Ebola response.
  • Plan coordinate with all relevant UNICEF Sections including Operations and Supply all necessary WASH supplies to be procured, pre-positioned and dispatched to affected districts in line with the supply plan.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced university degree; Maters degree in public health, Environmental Health, Civil & Sanitary Engineering or related field.
  • At least 5- 8 years of experience in the relevant areas of water, sanitation and hygiene, water quality, public health, environmental health.

Requirements and skills

  • Previous experience of proving emergency WASH responses in complex environments essential
  • Previous experience in Ebola preparedness/response is strongly advised.

2. Child Protection Gender Based Violence in Emergency Specialist

Child Protection Gender Based Violence in Emergency Specialist responsibilities include:

  • Review UNICEF’s existing Child Protection programming in the assigned country and provide technical guidance and trainings to strengthen GBV responses among existing child protection partners.
  • In locations affected by EVD, develop partnerships to provide specialized GBV programming in areas with limited or no GBV services for women and girls.
  • Provide technical support to make necessary adaptations to Child Protection services based on the Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) and public health measures required.
  • Work with existing coordination mechanisms to strengthen referrals between health, GBV and Child Protection providers in EVD affected locations.
  • Work with new and existing partners to ensure that all programming is implemented in line with the CCCs under Child Protection including commitments on GBViE prevention, response and risk mitigation.
  • Work with GBV and PSEA actors to ensure that SEA- and GBV-related complaints received through CBCMs are connected to services.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced university degree or equivalent in public health, the social sciences or other relevant field related to GBViE in emergency programming.
  • A minimum of 5 years of GBViE programming experience with either the UN and/or NGO in emergency settings.

Requirements and skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively liaise with people in a wide range of functions in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Proven experience of planning and facilitating trainings, workshops and other capacity building modalities.
  • Ability to work independently and productively, with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment and independently, and to handle requests or issues as they arise.
  • Ability to collect, collate and analyze data in an effective manner and strong writing skills.

3. Child Protection in Emergency Officer

Child Protection in Emergency Officer responsibilities include:

  • Conduct and update the situation analysis for the development, design and management of child protection in emergencies related programmes/projects in the EVD response. Research and report on development trends (e.g. economic, social, health) and data for use in programme development, management, monitoring, evaluation and delivery of results.
  • Contribute to the development and establishment of sectoral programme goals, objectives, strategies, and results-based planning through research, analysis and reporting of child protection, and other related information for development planning and priority and goal setting.
  • Provide child protection in emergencies technical and operational support throughout all stages of programming processes by executing and administering a variety of technical, programme, operational, and administrative transactions, preparing related materials and documentations, and complying with organizational processes and management systems, to support programme planning, results-based planning (RBM) and monitoring and evaluating of results.
  • Prepare required programme documentations, materials and data to facilitate the programme review and approval process.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on the development and/or implementation of relevant UNICEF programming strategy documents, policy documents and advocacy to address child protection in emergencies (within the EVD response).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A university degree in one of the following fields is required: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas is required.

Requirements and skills

  • Experience working in emergency response an advantage.
  • Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.

4. Information Management Officer

Information Management Officer responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain the results database to track core humanitarian indicators in the Ebola response and other hazards as needed.
  • Build the capacity of the emergency team to collect, record, collate and analyze data
  • Provide quality assurance of all data and results reported in HPM, including the sitreps, working closely with sections.
  • Using the database and dashboards, identify and report any gaps in humanitarian assistance to the emergency team and sections.
  • Development and maintenance of standardized databases which can be used to capture relevant information for monitoring and planning purposes
  • Participate in monitoring missions as required to gather additional information.
  • Provide data analysis on survey data and other data received by sections, partners, field monitoring reports and other data inputs. Use this data to support the preparation of regular reports, including the Situation Reports, and donor proposals.
  • Develop maps to support UNICEF’s programming and that of our partners using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) while promoting data standards and harmonized management of geographic data / information.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Computer science, Software engineering, Information technology, Data Science, Geospatial Science, Geographic Information Systems, or relevant disciplines is required.
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in information and data management, technology management especially for emergency response in a large international organization. Experience in a UN organization is an asset.

Requirements and skills

  • Knowledge and experience in using Power BI, Adobe illustrator and ArcGIS are highly desirable
  • Proven technical experience in development and use of innovative technology, particularly in the areas of data, humanitarian performance monitoring, use of mobiles and open source, and training in the related field is highly desirable
